八ヶ岳野辺山高原ウルトラマラソン実行委員会・日出国の娘、息子達へ
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of your ultra marathon
race,
I wish to convey a most cordial message to you who for the ten consequence
years ≪ΔΕΚΑΚΙΣ≫ as we say in Greek, successfully organized one of the
most difficult 100km ultra marathon.
May God help you to celebrate your twentieth and more anniversaries
and prepare the brave Spartathlon runners.
第10回記念大会の開催に際し、屈指の難コースと云われるウルトラマラソン大会で
見事に10回開催を成し遂げられた関係者の労に対して、心からのメッセージを贈ります。
神は、この大会が20回、またそれ以上の開催を迎えること、そしてスパルタスロンを
目指す勇敢なランナー達の参加する大会として、見守ってくれるでしょう。
A few years ago I had the chance to attend your difficult race,
invited by Mr.Sakamoto, and I had the honor to award some of the brave winners,
who later participated in Spartathlon.
Some of you will have the privilege to become ≪ΔΕΚΑΚΙΣ≫（dekakis = ten times）
winners, a special title for brave and courageous runners who will have the Greek
name of ≪ΔΕΚΑΚΙΣ ΝΙΚΗΤΗΣ≫（dekakis nikitis = ten times winner）.
It is heroic deed to finish ten straight races in a row.
We have trendy relations with your race, since from the beginning the finishers are
accepted as participants in Spartathlon race.
I wish to all of you every success to your efforts and will be waiting to greet you
at the base of the King Leonidas' statue, in Sparta.
私は、3年前に招かれ、完走困難な八ヶ岳野辺山ウルトラマラソンを見る機会を
得ました。その後、スパルタスロンでは何人かの勇敢な入賞者の栄誉を称えさせて
頂きました。
日本の100キロウルトラマラソンの中でも屈指の厳しいコースで10回の
完走を果たすことは、大変なことであろうと考えます。
私は、貴大会における10回完走者に対して、ギリシャ語でいう
≪デカキス・ニキティス ΔΕΚΑΚΙΣ･ΝΙΚΗΤΗΣ（10回完走者）≫という特別な称号を
贈りたいと考えます。それは勇敢な、10回完走した、という意味の称号です。
私は、八ヶ岳野辺山ウルトラマラソンの完走者がスパルタスロンに参加する、という
相互の友愛友好的な関係を保つことを希望しています｡
皆さんの努力の成果が遺憾なく発揮されることを望むと共に、スパルタのレオニダス像で
皆さんにお会いできることを心よりお待ちしています｡
